    • READY students, we have a field trip this Saturday.  Please turn your permission slips in to Ms. Valenzuela by this Thursday.
    • Red Ribbon Week:  The National Family Partnership organized the first National Red Ribbon Campaign in 1985 in response to the murder of agent Enrique (Kiki) Camarena.  Drug Enforcement Agent Camarena was killed by drug traffickers because of his impact and work battling against illegal drug cartels in America. He is quoted as saying, “I’m only one person, but I want to make a difference.”  In honor of Camarena’s memory, friends and neighbors began to wear red badges of stain. Parents, sick of the destruction of alcohol and other drugs had begun forming coalitions, and some of these coalitions took Camarena as their model and embraced his belief that one person can make a difference. It has been nearly 40 years, and the National Red Ribbon campaign continues with the purpose to unite and take a visible stand against drugs.  The goal of the campaign is to help citizens across the country to come together to keep children, families and communities safe, healthy and drug-free. Throughout Livermore, at every school, including here at Junction, you will see red ribbons on display to celebrate this cause. In your classes you will receive red ribbon reminders to spread awareness of this celebration. We encourage all Bulldogs to show their personal commitment to a drug-free lifestyle.
