November 20, 2020
Dear LVJUSD Families,
As promised last week, below are the results of the elementary commitment survey. The Board elected not to consider the recommendation by the task force of a supermajority, choosing instead to wait to see what the results showed.
Do you support a district-wide move to a hybrid schedule for our elementary grades?
- 38% - yes
- 62% - no
What is the earliest date we should begin a transition to hybrid?
- 84% - January 2021
- 16% - December 2020
If we move to a hybrid model, will you commit to hybrid or distance for this student?
- 38.5% would move to hybrid
- 61.5% would remain in distance learning
Here is the breakdown of commitments, by school site:
The fact that Alameda County is now in the purple tier precludes us from reopening schools. We will be continuing in distance learning. We will be able to continue with the small group cohorts we have in place, and look forward to being able to implement widespread support hubs once we are no longer in the purple tier.
So that we can improve distance learning, we ask that you share your thoughts about what is working and what needs to improve. This exchange will be open through Friday, December 4th. We will use your input as we develop strategies to improve instruction in Trimester 2.
We wish you all a happy and safe Thanksgiving break.
