Immunizations Required for 2020-21 School Year

A Message from Our School Nurses:

In keeping with guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and California Department of Public Health (CDPH), LVJUSD is maintaining all requirements for proof of compliance for required immunizations prior to students starting school on August 25, 2020.

California law has not changed the requirements for up-to-date immunization status for all children enrolled in school during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Immunizations must be current in order to attend school. We encourage students to complete immunization requirements to be prepared for the return to the classroom.

The CDPH and AAP concur that children should be current on all immunizations to avoid a community outbreak of preventable diseases. Any outbreak would compound the impact of Covid-19 on our already burdened healthcare system.

Please reach out to your medical provider to discuss concerns you may have about getting your child’s vaccines completed. Many physician’s offices have made changes to their protocol to enhance safety during Covid-19.

If you have questions specific to your child’s vaccination status relative to school, please reach out to your student’s school nurse. Resources and contact information for school nurses can be found on our website at
