Principal's Letter to Rancho Families
Hello Rancho Families!
The Rancho staff and I would like to welcome you back to the 2020-21 school year! As you have seen through district communication, LVJUSD will begin the school year with full time distance learning for all students. We recognize that distance learning presents a unique set of challenges for our students, but we want you to know that we are dedicated to ensuring our students have access to a high quality education, regardless of our school model. We are confident that we can make remote learning a positive experience for our students. The attached Parent Handbook may answer many of your questions.
Rancho Office Hours
Week of August 10: 9am-3pm, closed 12-1pm for lunch
Week of August 17: 8am-4pm
When visiting our school office please practice social distancing of 6 feet, wear a mask, and follow current guidelines from our County Office of Health.
August 18-20: 9-11am and 1-3pm in our MPR
Please print, fill out, and bring with you the attached Chromebook Loan Agreement. If you need to pick up a chromebook earlier (week of August 10) due to scheduling issues, please email Mrs. Sanborn at email@example.com to schedule an appointment.
School Supply and Learning Material Pickup / Meet your Child's Teacher
School supplies can be picked up on Monday, August 24, in the drive through valet loop. It will be done in one hour time blocks by grade level, with teachers handing out materials directly to their students in their vehicles, as we know the importance of the student/teacher connection. We realize this means a trip to Rancho for each child in your family, but it allows for teacher/student connection, each student gets to feel special as the Rancho guest of honor during the trip, ensures health and safety expectations related to social distancing, and I bet you're getting tired of just visiting the grocery store and Target!
TK and Kinder: 8-9 am
First Grade: 9-10 am
Second Grade: 10-11 am
Third Grade: 11-12 noon
Fourth Grade: 12 noon - 1 pm
Fifth Grade: 1-2 pm
SDC (all levels): 2-3pm
If you cannot make the assigned grade level time, supplies will be available Monday evening (8/24) until 6 pm in our MPR, as well as Tuesday 8/25 from 8-11am. Rancho teachers will be communicating with families on August 20 to notify of their students teacher assignment. This may be done by phone call, email, or video with our families. Once you know your child's teacher, it is our hope you will create a paper windshield sign with your child's name and teacher's name to display when you come to our drive through supply pick up. This will alert the teacher to come curbside, briefly greet their new student by name, and hand over their materials. As our grade level windows will be tight, we respectfully ask that interactions remain brief to keep families/cars moving. Teachers will be positioned on the sidewalk near the end of the drive through loop closest to East Jack London.
I will be sending a voice phone message on August 24 to welcome your students and wish them a great start to what we will make an excellent school year!

Lastly, I respectfully ask for your patience and understanding as we begin the year and strive together to implement a high quality learning program that is considerably different than what we are accustomed to delivering when a school year begins. Please grant us the time to work through any initial kinks over the course of the next few weeks.
