Business Law A/B (Pg)

Course Description: Through the Business Law course, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the American Legal System. Business Law challenges students to become participants in the shaping of future legal matters, developing critical thinking and reasoning skills. Students will apply these skills to problems within their school and community, as they study critical aspects of law that directly impact their lives. Students will study citizens' rights and responsibilities. In addition, the United States Constitution, Bill of Rights, and landmark Supreme Court decisions will be studied and evaluated. Students will participate in mock trials, criminal court visits, and guest speaker visits. They will research law and apply law in practical problem-solving projects. Students will learn to interpret laws relating to contracts, consumer law, personal property, employment law, business regulations, family law, insurance and estate planning, cyber law, and e-commerce. Students will connect their business law skills with core subjects, problem identification and solutions, communication, and research. They will also enhance their foundation skills with creative thinking, decision-making, and reasoning, as well as workplace competencies that assist them with allocating time management, organizational skills, team building, and understanding and applying technology
