Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,
On behalf of the staff at Granada High School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year! This will be my 22nd year at Granada, and throughout that experience, our goal has been to help every student feel welcome and connected with our Granada family at the beginning of the school year. As the school year progresses, we strive to challenge each student to achieve his or her highest potential.
It is true that this year brings with it particular challenges in terms of how to help students succeed while managing the challenges of our societal response to the COVID-19 pandemic. I still do not know exactly what the beginning of the school year will look like, what might be the restrictions on large-group gatherings, or whether those restrictions will continue to necessitate distance learning. I do know that we are planning for all potential possibilities. I will send out details and plans as soon as we are able to give definitive answers.
Despite the challenges, there are things to which we can look forward. The generous funds provided by the Livermore community through Measure J have already resulted in a new athletic field and stadium, as well as improvements to our whole campus infrastructure. When students are able to return to campus, they will be greeted by our new physical education complex, which includes a weight room, wrestling room, dance/tumbling room, and a brand new pool.
Once again, welcome back! Together let's make it another successful year at Granada!
