Community Service (Red) Cord
Students who complete over 100 community service hours (75 hours for the class of 2022) are eligible to apply for the community service (red) cord for graduation. These hours must be completed while in high school. Students may apply for this during the spring of their senior year and will receive the cord at Senior Awards Night.
Tracking Volunteer Hours
Use this form to log your volunteer hours throughout high school.
Please note that Granada does not require volunteer hours for graduation. This is an optional tool for students to document hours they may have. Volunteer hours can be used on college applications, job applications and resumes.
LLF’s First High School Summer Internship Program Inspires Students
This summer, the inaugural Livermore Lab Foundation (LLF)-supported High School Internship Program commenced at Lawrence Livermore National Lab (LLNL). A total of six high school students were selected from Livermore’s three public high schools – two each from Del Valle, Livermore, and Granada high schools – to participate in the month-long program. The interns did project work on two-student teams, each paired with mentors [Lab scientists and engineers] at LLNL in their respective fields of additive manufacturing (3D printing), bioengineering, and micro and nanotechnology. REMco offers a first summer internship to GHS student
Colleen McCandless (senior) was tasked with reviewing the drawing data base files for correct revisions in order to release them to production. She was required to understand Windows Fire Management, AutoCAD files, and Solidworks files. The engineering change requests and new part requests were checked for accuracy to these files and printed copies were filed in a folder system as were the digital versions. Having Colleen at REMco for the short amount of time that she was here (5 weeks) proved beneficial to offering the internship and satisfied REMco's desire to open up the opportunity for an up and coming student to gain the hand's on experience.
