Chris Van Schaack

Chris Van Schaack brings a career of educational leadership in the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District to his current position as Deputy Superintendent. Mr. Van Schaack has served our community as Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services, Executive Director of Student Services and Special Education, Principal of Granada High School, Summer School Coordinator, vice principal, teacher, and coach. He leads our district’s bargaining teams for all contract negotiations with the Livermore Education Association (LEA), the California School Employees Association (CSEA), and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). Since 2000, Mr. Van Schaack has been active in the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), serving as the chair on numerous visits and providing leadership to our high schools throughout the accreditation process.

Mr. Van Schaack and his wife live in Livermore. Their children are all graduates of Granada High School, and have gone on to higher education. In his free time, Mr. Van Schaack enjoys sports, traveling, and golf.

Division Responsibilities

  • The Administrative Services Division is responsible for all aspects of the District’s labor relations and collective bargaining, workforce recruitment and development, site administrative supervision and evaluation, enrollment projections and staffing, and maintenance and construction of District facilities.
