Nutrition in Our Schools

  • In the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District, we follow federal and state guidelines to ensure that our students are served healthy, nutritious food.

  • School lunch

Food in Our Classrooms

  • Classrooms have many opportunities to celebrate throughout the year from birthdays to holiday parties. As a reminder, any food brought into the classroom for snacks or celebrations MUST come from a commercial source (not prepared in your home kitchen). Items should be individually wrapped or served with disposable gloves to avoid hand contact and cross contamination.

Competitive Foods

  • In California, any food or beverage sold to students outside of the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program is considered to "compete" with those meals provided to students, and is considered a "competitive" food or beverage. Districts participating in the USDA meal programs are mandated to establish rules and regulations to control the sale of food in competition with the school breakfast and lunch programs.
